What is a "Same-Site License"?If you purchased multiple copies of HydroCAD before May 2008 you may have received a "Same-Site" license at a reduced cost. Because of the significant discount, special restrictions apply to the use and transfer of these licenses. What restrictions apply to a Same-Site License?Quoting from the License Agreement:
In brief, this means that all same site licenses must be kept together as a unit, and cannot be transferred separately unless they are upgraded to a standard license. If you wish to transfer some (but not all) of your same-site licenses to another owner and/or location, you must convert each same-site license to a full license of the same capacity by payment of the difference in cost. If you are planning to enroll in a multi-site floating license agreement, all same-site licenses must first be upgraded to a standard license. Why do I have to pay more to transfer my license?Actually, when you upgrade to a standard license your total cost (original purchase plus upgrade) is exactly the same as buying a new license. There is no penalty. And in the mean time you've had the benefit of an additional license for just $395 - significantly less than the cost of a standard license. Are you still selling Same-Site licenses? No. As of May 2008 we are no longer issuing new same-site licenses. When you add a user to an existing site after that date, the cost is the same as purchasing for a new site, so that license is fully transferable at no additional cost. Please note that all pre-existing same-site licenses are still subject to a fee if transferred separately. If you would like to convert all of your previous same-site licenses to a transferable license, please contact us for a custom proposal. Upgrading a Same-Site License
