HydroCAD Update Required!As of January 6th, 2025 HydroCAD licensing was moved to a new server. In order to run HydroCAD 10.2 after this date you must be running one of the updated versions listed below. If you attempt to run an earlier version you will receive error 211 indicating "open failed". In order for your HydroCAD 10.2 software to continue working normally, simply install one of the free updates listed below.
You can install the update directly over your current HydroCAD installation. You do not need to uninstall. As usual, HydroCAD updates will not alter any user data or project files. If you inadvertently install a version for which you are not licensed, just come back to this page and download the correct file. Frequently Asked QuestionsWhich file should I download? Customers who are on maintenance, or using an annual license or Sampler, are always eligible for the latest version. Otherwise, you should install only the version for which you are licensed, as shown above. How do I update my program? Download the setup program by clicking the applicable link listed above. When the download is complete, run the "HydroCAD-Setup" file that is created on your computer and select "Standard Installation". For further details please see the regular download page. Is there a charge for the update? No. This is a maintenance release, available to all HydroCAD 10.2 users at no charge. Why is the update necessary? Amazon Web Services (AWS) is discontinuing the database environment that we are currently using to manage HydroCAD licensing. The move to the new database requires changes to the HydroCAD code, which can only be achieved by installing updated software on each computer that is running HydroCAD. Fortunately, the updated code will greatly improve our ability to handle any future changes at AWS without additional updates. Why didn't you give me more warning of the change? We've done our best to inform customers of this change in a timely manner. In fact, we've been reaching out to affected customers since September 2024, including several email notifications, newsletter items, and even direct phone calls. What else changes with the update? Very little. As shown in the table above, we have prepared a new build for each release of HydroCAD, so the features and results will remain the same. If you want to examine a complete list of changes please see the software change log. Will I have to make any firewall changes? No. The new builds use the same protocols, ports, and IP address as before, so no firewall changes are required. Do I need my full license code to install the update? No. When updating an existing HydroCAD 10.2 installation you do not need to enter your license code. The existing license code will be used automatically, and does not have to be re-entered. Your full license code is required only if you install HydroCAD on a new computer, or if you are updating an earlier version with a different license code.
